So I'm going to start sharing more of my wedding planning journey, and how I'm doing things just that little bit differently.
The very first thing I did was find some inspiration and some organisation. I searched through a lot of online tools for budgeting, guest lists and vendor lists and have found Wedding Wire the best - I wrote about it here. They also have a mobile app which I have used many many times.
For inspiration, Pinterest is of course top of the list, but there are also some great websites that give you something a little different from the mainstream.- Magnolia Rouge is a NZ blog full of romantic, modern ideas. They also produce an Mag Rouge, their online mag that's on my must-read list.
- Grey Likes Wedding is not only great elegant content but you can search weddings by colour palete and season.
- The Knot is like an Australian Martha Stewart with lots of ideas for the little details. The email newsletter is worth signing up for.
- Style Me Pretty has lots of the type of real weddings that are really beautiful. I think of it as the best part of wedding magazines, all in one place.
- Belle the Magazine focuses on sophication. It's a nice break from all the romantic, rustic weddings, and has been great inspiration for me finding my balance between elegants and opulance.
I'd love to know what's been your wedding style? And where did you go for inspiration and direction?
What kind of wedding do you want? I find that with all the wedding blogs and Pinterest nowadays there are so many options. I got married over two and half years ago and (I think) there weren't as many options. Granted, I wanted mine to be traditional. But things like cake or candy buffets weren't really done in NZ. We did a candy buffet and people are still talking about it! Haha. Good luck wedding planning, I LOVE planning weddings!
ReplyDeleteHey Lydia, I have heaps more to say about my style as I start going into more details of the choices I'm making. Promise to tell you more about my ideas soon!
DeleteIf you want any help making things... the plan is for me to be in town from Feb until your wedding.. so I'll be around to get my craft on if required!
ReplyDeleteThink I'll fit in a side trip to Oz at some stage, but I'll be around if you need! x

ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day! Stop by nichollvincent.blogspot.com and say hello!
I wish Pinterest had been around when I was planning my wedding. Most of my inspiration came from previous weddings I'd been to, pictures from friends' weddings, wedding magazines and theknot.com.
ReplyDeleteoh how I love wedding planning :) there was no pinterest when I got married, though.
ReplyDeletehave a great day!

I don't know what I would do without Pinterest! Maybe I would be one of those brides with the massive ring binder fill of bridal mag pics?
